Participant pathway
5 steps · 20 minutes
Identify the earliest available account and the later summary you want to check. Record the date, speaker, recipient, and type of source when known. Use only material you have permission to review and share.
Read the source in full or listen to the relevant complete passage. Note the order of observation, impression, interpretation, speech, and response as actually described. Preserve qualifications such as possible, sensed, or unsure. Mark inaudible or uncertain wording honestly.
For each substantive sentence in the later summary, identify the supporting source words. Label direct testimony, faithful synthesis, later interpretation, and subsequent event. Flag changes involving certainty, timing, personal motives, or an attributed divine promise.
Revise the summary so the reader can tell who said what and when. Preserve the strength and limits of the original wording. Place proposed interpretations in a separate paragraph and record any correction supplied by the person whose experience is being described.
Decide whether the revised account belongs in a private journal, a consented teaching example, or further discussion with a ministry leader. Record any permission needed before wider sharing. Preserve both the source and the dated corrected summary.
Fictional practice example
An original note says that a participant pictured a garden and wondered whether it related to hospitality. A later summary describes a confirmed assignment to open a retreat center. The review restores the original garden image and hospitality possibility, with the retreat center idea placed in a separate section as a later proposal.
Pause and reflect
What did the original speaker actually communicate?
Where did the later summary add certainty, timing, motive, or outcome?
How should the revised account be used and attributed?
Produce a sourced comparison and a corrected summary with clear attribution, chronology, and intended use.

Provide a short fictional transcript and a deliberately expanded summary for a group comparison exercise.
Agree on confidentiality and consent before sharing personal experiences. Invite participants to weigh impressions through Scripture, prayer, trusted counsel, and the fruit of their responses over time.
