Participant pathway

One attentive step at a time.

5 steps · 15 minutes

  1. 010–3 min

    Name the impression

Describe what you experienced in simple language. Identify the person or concern in a way that preserves privacy. Record your present interpretation separately, including any uncertainty you carry.

  2. 023–6 min

    Offer gratitude and surrender

Pray with gratitude for God’s care and for the dignity of everyone involved. Offer your desire to help, your questions, and your expectations. Take time to receive the situation with compassion.

  3. 036–10 min

    Ask for wisdom

Read the selected passages. Ask how love, patience, truthfulness, and responsible boundaries could shape your response. Notice any change in your understanding and record it as reflection during prayer.

  4. 0410–13 min

    Choose the next step

Consider prayer, counsel, a practical kindness, or a brief communication with consent. Select a response proportionate to the information you have. Allow time for further understanding where the matter remains unclear.

  5. 0513–15 min

    Record and revisit

Write the prayer’s central theme, the next step, and a review date. Keep the original impression intact so later reflection can be compared with what you first experienced.

Fictional worked example

See the practice take shape.

A participant feels drawn to pray for a friend during a busy week. She records the impression, prays for wisdom and strength, and chooses to send a simple message asking how the friend is doing. The reply supplies real context for further care, and she keeps that information distinct from her initial impression.

Pause and reflect

What is becoming clearer?

  1. 1

What changed in my attitude as I prayed?

  2. 2

What do I know about the person’s actual situation?

  3. 3

Which response expresses care while allowing space for further understanding?

Your practice outcome

A brief prayer, a considered next step, and a dated record distinguishing the original impression from later reflection.

For group leaders

Facilitator guidance

Open preparation, coaching, and debrief

Opening invitation

Invite participants to pray with openness, compassion, and enough time to consider their response.

Coach the practice

  • Respect silent prayer and private records.
  • Distinguish a change in feeling from verification of an interpretation.
  • Encourage practical care informed by what the recipient chooses to share.

Debrief together

Invite voluntary sharing of a prayer theme and the next step it supported. Keep personal details within the participant’s chosen boundaries.

Adapt for the people present

Offer a written prayer structure, quiet reflection, or prayer spoken by a partner with permission. Participants may work with a general community concern.

Agree on confidentiality and consent before sharing personal experiences. Invite participants to weigh impressions through Scripture, prayer, trusted counsel, and the fruit of their responses over time.

Carry it into the week

A faithful next step.

Revisit the chosen response after several days, recording what happened and what remains open for discernment.
