Read service and stewardship in context

Read Romans 12:3–8 with the surrounding teaching about humility, shared life, and love. Read 1 Peter 4:8–11 in its setting of hospitality and service. Record what the passages say before writing your application. Consider how these themes can shape the way you listen, assign responsibility, and support the people involved.

Invite contributions with clarity and choice

Describe the need and ask what people can offer within their roles and capacity. Make room for different perspectives and appropriate questions. Clarify the decisions, resources, and support available. When someone accepts a responsibility, agree on the task and handoff. A clear invitation helps the person understand both the opportunity and the commitment.

Support learning as the work unfolds

Ask what is becoming clearer and where support is needed. Give feedback connected with a specific action and invite the person’s account of the experience. Notice contributions that may be easy to overlook: preparation, follow through, listening, practical care, and restoration after difficulty. Let the learning inform how responsibility is shared next time.

Review the benefit together

Fictional example: a community organizer invites volunteers to prepare a welcome experience. The group agrees on tasks, makes an accessible arrival guide, and asks newcomers what helped. The organizer acknowledges the shared work and records one improvement. Use the Convergence Map and stewardship plan to consider how your gifts, contributions, relationships, and current responsibilities may support another person’s flourishing.
