Five Evidence Dimensions for Spiritual-Gifts Discernment
Understand Resonance, Practice, Fruit, Confirmation, Stewardship, and Evidence Breadth in Convergence Gifts.
Why five dimensions matter
A single self-rating can blend desire, experience, confidence, opportunity, affirmation, and maturity into one answer. Convergence Gifts separates them. Every gift receives one item for Resonance, Practice, Fruit, Confirmation, and Stewardship. The resulting pattern reveals where evidence is concentrated and where exploration can deepen.
Resonance
Resonance captures inward recognition: recurring burden, joy, attentiveness, or attraction toward a form of service. A strong resonance score may signal a meaningful invitation. It can also reflect aspiration, recent teaching, unmet opportunity, or identification with an admired person. Resonance becomes clearer through practice and community discernment.
Practice
Practice captures repeated action. It asks whether a participant has communicated, served, led, studied, prayed, welcomed, encouraged, built, or cared in ways associated with the gift. Opportunity matters. A low Practice score can reflect limited access rather than limited gifting, so the appropriate next step may be a safe experiment rather than a conclusion.
Fruit
Fruit captures observable benefit associated with the expression. It looks toward strengthened people, deeper understanding, wise action, healing, belonging, faithful direction, mature communities, durable pathways, and barriers removed. Fruit should be described with credible language and appropriate time horizons. Extraordinary claims require especially careful documentation.
Confirmation
Confirmation captures recognition from people who know the participant’s life and service. Mature leaders, peers, teammates, and recipients can contribute different forms of evidence. Confirmation carries greater value when it includes specific examples across settings and time. It supports discernment while preserving room for development and surprise.
Stewardship
Stewardship examines the manner in which the expression is carried: consent, boundaries, accountability, confidentiality, preparation, cultural humility, truthful language, referral wisdom, shared leadership, documentation, correction, and follow-up. High capacity with developing stewardship calls for formation. Strong stewardship with limited opportunity may indicate readiness for supervised practice.
Evidence Breadth
Evidence Breadth counts how many of the five items for a gift receive a score of three or four. A total of 16 or above with breadth across four or five dimensions produces a Strong Convergent Signal. A similar total concentrated in fewer dimensions is reported as Strong Total; Examine Evidence Breadth. This distinction preserves important information that an ordinary total can conceal.
